How it works

How the hillside works

One world spinning for anybody, two more behind a free account, and every rule set down in writing.

The world with no gate on it

Pippin Ladder is open to everyone: spin it on the home page or on its own page with free play coins. There is no name, email or password to give and nothing to tick.

Signing on

The press shed and the cask cellar each sit behind a free account, and the form runs to four lines: an orchard name, an email address, a password and a tick to say you are 19 or over. There is no card field, no address and no telephone number, because nothing on this site is for sale. The account is there for two reasons: your coins and progress are still waiting when you come back, and the reels stay with adults. One button on your account page removes it and everything in it.

One basket, three worlds

You begin on 100,000 free coins, with anything the picking ladder paid you on the same machine poured in on top. The same basket, level and jobs follow you from world to world. Orchard coins are virtual: they cannot be bought, sold, withdrawn or swapped for anything, and nothing you win carries real-world value.

Topping the picking basket up

  • A free drop of coins every four hours.
  • Orchard jobs each day, paid in coins.
  • A reward every time you reach a new level.
  • A free top-up at once if the basket ever falls under 2,000 coins.

There are no in-app purchases and no till anywhere on the hillside.

Working out what a spin pays

Each world turns five reels over three rows. Wins read left to right from the first reel across touching reels along fixed paylines. Your stake is divided evenly between the lines; paytable figures are multiples of the line stake, except the scatter, which is paid against the whole stake. Only the best win on a line is paid.

The free rounds

Kind of roundHow it behavesWhere it turns up
Tumbling reelsWinning pictures disappear, the rest settle down and fresh ones fall in from above. Each new win in the chain is worth more: x1 on the spin itself, then x2, x3 and x5 for every fall after that.
Multiplier that climbsThe free-spin multiplier gains height as the round runs on and never slips back down before it ends.Pippin Ladder
Wilds pinned for a respinA paid spin that pays nothing but shows a wild pins every wild where it stands and turns the rest of the grid again, free of charge.
Last-reel respinWhen a paid spin pays nothing and shows exactly two scatters, the fifth reel turns once more on its own, free, after the third.Second Pressing
Free spins paid twiceThe plainest round on the slope: three scatters open the free spins and every win inside them is paid twice over.Oak Cask Cellar

Where the screens come from

Each reel carries a fixed strip of pictures. Every spin takes an independent random position on each strip from your browser's own random number generator. What came before has no bearing on what comes next, and nothing adjusts itself to your basket or to how long you have been spinning.

The figures printed on the paytables

The return, the share of spins that come good and the rate of the free round are measured for each world by running its own code over millions of spins, then printed in its paytable. They cover coin play in these free worlds and nothing else; they say nothing about any real-money game.

A free social casino on an orchard slope. Nothing on it is real-money gambling.

The hillside is for adults of 19 or over. Every world turns on orchard coins that carry no monetary value and cannot be bought, sold, withdrawn or exchanged. There is no coin shop and no till anywhere on this site, nothing of real-world value is handed out as a prize, and doing well on these reels says nothing about how you would do with money at stake.
